Since I’m leaving Melbourne for good in less than two months, I figured I should try out all the restaurants, do all the things I want to do as soon as I can. Also, JordanBomber and I tend to spend the weekends quietly, spending half of Saturday in bed, and practically all of Sunday doing the same. Oh, we also 9Gag and Berry of course. Hehe. Anyway, last Saturday we were actually out of bed by 10.00am. A weird feat for us, considering we’re usually up til 3.00am the night before.
Shame it took us over an hour to get to the city that day. I get that we’re better of that Metlink is doing railway works on the weekend instead of weekdays, where people actually had to rush to work, but oh God, over an hour to get to the city?! Ugh..
Anyway, first stop was Woolshed Pub for lunch. I’ve always only passed by the place on the way to Alumbra (it’s right along the pier, next to the club) and it’s always closed (duh). To be honest, lunch wasn’t planned out, we only headed to Docklands because the it was where the the first thing planned for the day was.

Guinness draught, Woolshed burger and wagyu beef with rosemary and red wine. And the boyf ![]()
So yes, after lunch, we braved the winds (it was mad that day. Blowdrying my hair was absolutely pointless) and headed to Medibank Icehouse.

Right, there aren’t any photos, because I completely sucked at skating. For one thing, the minute we put our skates on, everyone got off the rink and the zamboni came on (I fell almost immediately as I got on the ice). And well, I thought I could get back into the groove of things from when I rollerbladed and ice skated that one or two times as a kid.
Nope. Epic fail. I fell down once and was gripping JordanBK’s hand for dear life the whole most of the time. To be honest, I would have fallen down at least five times if he weren’t there to save my lack of balance. I had a tonne fun though and I was laughing at myself half the time, until my legs got too tired and I couldn’t even lift them to push myself anywhere. Of course, he was a natural ![]()

Shoes: Uniqlo, Japan

The thing about going out alone, there isn’t anyone around enough of the time to take photos of the two of us. Camwhore la!
Next stop: Back to Southbank all the way up Eureka tower to the Skydeck on the 88th floor.

Cool elevator floor.

We were so high up, the pressure up there was different. None my my rings could come off. Air pressure MAKES MY FINGERS FAT!!! Note to self: No rings while flying ever again.

At this point, I had given up on my hair. Sigh. I’m just glad it’s straight/flat, so it was easy to do up again.

Dusk in Melbourne

Hehe we got someone to take a photo of us ![]()

The sun was setting and we were losing light when JordanBK said “Hmm, I don’t think your camera can capture anything anymore…”
Hmph, doubt my Lumix. I showed him. I didn’t even shop this photo, other than the water mark ![]()

The EDGE experience is where you enter this little room, which is pretty much a glass box that is pushed out of the building, so it makes it seem as though you’re floating in the middle of nowhere, 88 storeys up. We paid for it and got a pair of wristbands, but had to get a refund, or we’d be late for dinner. So this is kinda fake, but it still looked cool…
MommaChoe would have freaked out to no end if she were in that box. Haha!

It was time to leave, so as to make our dinner reservation. Bye bye Eureka!
Our last stop was…

Gary Mehigan’s baby… Fenix Restaurant I was really excited about dinner too, being one of the restaurants owned by one of the Masterchef judges.

Purely decorative, but I’m a sucker for fireplaces. It adds to a whole different mood. The last date we went on had a fireplace too!

Plate of house cured meat

I had the Vanilla poached hapuka “Grand Aioli”. It was great, the fish was fresh, the aioli was yum, but there were a lot of flavors in just that one dish…

Sides of new season asparagus, mint hollandaise and Adelaide tomato salad with extra virgin olive oil, finely sliced shallots, radish and chives (geez, so fancy for what - it’s a tomato salad!).

And the most expensive thing on the menu was aptly priced, I think. It was super yums! He had the char grilled sirloin with duck fat roasted potatoes and condiments (which included truffle oil – *DIES*)

Thanks for an excellent Saturday, love!
