I’ve never really watched a game of Australian footie before. Sure, there’s always something on TV, but I never sat down and paid attention. Monash was giving out free tickets for an AFL match between Melbourne and North Melbourne for last Sunday. And to my previous experience with basketball, going to watch a game live is the best way to learn about it. Plus, I thought it was an awesome way to soak up the culture and what not.

Almost every guy I know in Melbourne has one of these balls. It makes me thing of Mr. HoongSek
I swear, I really should have at least Wikipedia-ed the rules on how to play Australian football, at least, but oh well. LeonPhotoPro, MichieMicrowaveQueen and I just picked a team and yelled along with the others
I just spent the time there watching the game, taking photos, muching on Dominos’ and a meat pie, and of course washing it down with some Carlton Draught! ![]()

North Melbourne fans don blue and white, whereas Melbourne’s colors are red and navy blue.

Something happened in the crowd, I’m not too sure what. But the next thing you know there was orange smoke coming from the other side of the stadium.

MichieMicrowaveQueen and Fei.
Luckily Fei came in time to teach us a little about the scoring system. I’ve yet to find out the proper rules about kicking the ball and all that, but I know that a player has to bounce the ball once every 5 meters while running!

AND THEN… MichieMQ and I saw the cuuutest thing ever!

Isn’t that the most adorable thing you’ve ever seeeeen?! Awwwwwww!
Another really cute thing was what happened during half time (footy goes by Quarters, so this was after the 2nd quarter)

It’s the mini AFL! If you look closely to the upper right hand corner of the picture, I think you can see Mini Melbourne vs. Mini North Melbourne!

The personal pizza pie cost me $7.20, but I was starving! Even a pint of Carlton is cheaper than that man -_-”

Well, I have to say it was a good experience, and I’d definitely want to go again. Just maybe NOT for Melbourne games. Come on Geelong!
The crowd can get really angry, but not as vicious as football fans in England. Though there was this one kid sitting behind me who couldn’t just shut the fuck up. His mom even told him “Thomas, stop swearing!” to which (I shit you not) he told her to shut up. Yep, that’s right. I bet Bogan moms all teach their sons the same thing, -_-
Peace!

I noticed that you got tired halfway and stuck to MichieMQ instead. HAHAHAHA. Should have shared the crazy-woman-on-train experience! Should’ve uploaded a clip of her singing. HAHAHAHA.
HAHA MichieMQ sounds nicer, no? And yeah la I got lazy.
Oh yeah! The lady! Send me that clip and I’ll put it on my blog! LOL
MOST entertaining train ride EVER!
